3 years of experience supporting network or telecommunications environments
Working knowledge with troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark, fiber testing - OTDR, SNMP and others.
Hands‑on experience configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting routers, switches, MPLS networks, microwave radio systems, and RF communication equipment.
Experience supporting utility communication networks such as WAN, FAN, LAN, SCADA, teleprotection, or substation networks.
Experience with emergency response or storm restoration efforts is preferred.

Job Summary:
Ensures the performance, reliability, and security of the organization's OT and telecommunications networks by maintaining infrastructure, resolving advanced issues, and supporting network changes across WAN, LAN, FAN, and ISP environments. This role enables continuous utility operations by troubleshooting complex network faults, coordinating field and NOC activities, and ensuring all network functions align with compliance, cybersecurity, and operational standards.
Job Description:
Maintains the IT/OT environment to ensure seamless uptime and reliable system connectivity.
Collaborates with the NOC team to sustain 24/7 communication services and support operational continuity.
Supports WAN, FAN, and LAN infrastructures with a focus on OT and telecom systems to ensure stable and secure network performance.
Identifies and troubleshoots circuit issues to diagnose and resolve network faults efficiently.
Responds to outages as a Tier‑3 escalation resource to restore critical services promptly.
Oversees router (MPLS) and switch aggregation/access configurations to maintain network integrity and performance.
Manages provisioning procedures for legacy SONET/TDM circuits and microwave radio configurations to support diverse communication requirements.
Ensures the commissioning of IoT 4G equipment complies with organizational policies and includes complete documentation for future reference.
Ensures all network operations adhere to cybersecurity and NERC compliance standards to protect the utility's critical infrastructure.
Configures, tests, and troubleshoots routers, switches, microwave radios, RF equipment, and other OT assets to maintain OT network readiness.
Maintains logs and records of current configurations and tracks all changes for documentation accuracy and audit compliance.
Configures, maintains, and troubleshoots MPLS (L2-L3), Ethernet, Frame Relay, OSPF, BGP, and other routing protocols to support resilient network operations.
Supports engineering teams in testing and validating new communication technologies to enhance network capabilities.
Follows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations.
Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services.
Performs additional tasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility.
Additional Job Description:
Education
Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
Additional experience may substitute for required education when it aligns with the competencies and knowledge necessary for the role:
Associate's degree in a relevant field may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 8 years of experience performing similar functions and at least 5 years of experience performing a previous positions as Specialist role.
