Past employment within a healthcare facility, and one year of experience in PBX/Switchboard environment preferred
Must have effective communication skills and must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment
Must be detail oriented, customer focused, have a pleasant speaking voice, and possess skills in proper telephone etiquette
Must be able to handle emergency calls in a professional and calm demeanor
General knowledge of medical terminology preferred
Bilingual with Spanish proficiency preferred

Job Summary
Location: Atlanta, GA
Status: FTE
Schedule : 2:30pm - 11pm
The Telephone Operator answers and routes all incoming calls to requested areas (unless restricted by Grady Health System Policy). Locates personnel and house staff by public address system, pagers, cell phones, or other assigned devices. Provides excellent customer service to patients and staff by answering calls in a courteous and professional manner. Facilitates paging alerts for cardiac arrest (CODE Blue) and fire codes (CODE Red). Provides physician on-call schedule information and assistance to hospital personnel and patients with long distance calls. Notifies others of severe weather reports and provides overall general hospital information to patients, families, staff physicians, and the community at large.
