About the role
Remitly's technical operations are subject to a constantly evolving array of regulatory and operational risks that threaten ours and our customers' ability to do business. Within the Governance & Controls Assurance Program, you will lead the Resilience Assurance and Crisis Management sub-programs, establishing and implementing core elements for these functions throughout the enterprise. You will design and test controls related to physical and technical resilience, build and run a multi-disciplinary crisis management practice, and advise the process of tuning risk mitigations, transfers, or acceptance in these areas. You will operate independently with broad latitude to build and run your sub-programs while interacting with a broad spectrum of stakeholders across the enterprise. The role will report to the Governance & Controls Assurance Manager and will be based in Seattle, WA. You will: Be responsible for Resilience Assurance within the Governance & Compliance Assurance Program; supporting Resilience Governance (decision making, requirements, policies, and standards) and Resilience Controls Assurance (designing & measuring resilience control effectiveness). Review operational risk policies and standards for risk management along with understanding the controls in place to mitigate, building additional controls where necessary. Own crisis management for the Enterprise, assuring governance practices including decision making bodies, policies & standards, program structure, and maturity are managed. Coordinate with senior management in performing operational risk, resilience, and crisis management reviews and table top exercises. This includes tracking and measuring remediation of identified risks. Ensure resilience processes, workflows, and documentation match regulatory requirements and guidance on an ongoing basis. Perform operational risk identification and assessments in business units focused on operational resilience and crisis management. Produce risk assessments which guide the purchase of business continuity and other forms of insurance. Implement a plan to support in the prevention, elimination, or mitigation of operational risks related to resilience and crisis management, in line with the Company's risk appetite. Be responsible for the development of risk metrics and control indicators related to resilience and crisis management. Track and monitor operational risk issues ensuring that risks are managed in line with risk appetite, that issues are resolved satisfactorily and lessons learned are shared. Report operational risk issues and decisions to senior management on a regular basis Leverage AI and automation tools to maximize the efficiency of tracking, reporting, and remediation. Contribute to a culture of innovation on the Governance & Controls Assurance Team. Partner with and advise First Line risk owning teams on remediation and prioritization. Develop strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and business partners by working together to address issues/concerns in a timely manner. Ensure Operational Risk Training is robust and well managed: owning training content and delivery for First Line colleagues. Keep abreast of latest operational risk management techniques and industry best practices for operational resilience. Bring a strong customer focus and drive to get things right for our customers. You have: 5 years+ Operational Risk experience, including Crisis Management Experience in maturing the Controls and Management of a large customer-focused business, ideally within the financial services space. Experience of managing teams and stakeholders through organization maturation & change Knowledge of and experience with implementing industry-standard compliant Resilience and Crisis Management practices (i.e. EU DORA and ISO27001).
