About the role

Will serve as General Engineer/Physical Scientist, as a technical and safety program lead responsible for coordinating and overseeing safety basis reviews, compliance assessments, implementation verification activities for assigned facilities in accordance with federal regulations and agency directives. A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band level or GS grade level in the Federal Service, i.e., EN-03, NN-04, NQ-03, or GS-14. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Qualified applicants must possess at least 3 of the 4 examples below. Specialized Experience: 1. Led and mentored Safety Basis Review Teams, ensuring timely completion of assigned reviews. Streamlined review processes to reduce cycle time for annual submittals while maintaining full compliance with applicable safety regulations and standards. Prepared and submitted annual safety basis documentation for assigned facilities. 2. Conducted systematic reviews and provided technical evaluations of Unreviewed Safety Questions (USQs), improving the rate of regulatory concurrence on proposed resolutions. Designed and delivered training on USQ evaluation methodologies, strengthening consistency and quality of internal reviews. 3. Managed key phases of Implementation Verification Reviews at site level, ensuring comprehensive assessment of compliance with applicable DOE/NNSA regulations and directives. 4. Developed and delivered executive-level briefings to senior leadership, clearly communicating complex technical analyses, risk assessments, and justifications supporting annual safety basis document submittals.
