About the role

Reporting to the Head of Department, you will provide academic leadership and oversight of assigned Social Work courses, ensuring high-quality learning experiences, strong student outcomes and ongoing compliance with Higher Education standards. You will work closely with academic staff, students and key stakeholders to support course quality, curriculum enhancement and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide academic leadership and oversight of Social Work courses.
  • Support and mentor academic staff to promote excellence in teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Monitor course delivery to ensure alignment with curriculum, learning outcomes and academic standards.
  • Lead course review and curriculum enhancement activities.
  • Support assessment moderation and quality assurance processes.
  • Monitor student progression, retention and academic performance.
  • Support students and staff in resolving academic matters in line with policy.
  • Contribute to academic governance, accreditation, audit and compliance activities.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for academic committees and governance bodies.
  • Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support course quality and student success.
  • About You
  • To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • A postgraduate qualification in Social Work or a related discipline, at least one AQF level higher than the course being coordinated.
  • Eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Experience in higher education course coordination, academic leadership or program management.
  • Experience supporting academic staff and overseeing course delivery.
  • Knowledge of the Higher Education Standards Framework and TEQSA requirements.
  • Experience in curriculum development, assessment design, moderation and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • A commitment to academic excellence, student success and inclusive educational practices.
