As a Sort Machine Operator , you'll be part of our Decorah Operations team located in Decorah, IA. You'll get to:
To set up all pre-existing and new products and run all automatic sorting machines according to current quality standards. The sorting machines include: Mectron, Kotsu, Retina, CCM, Dowel Pin, Roll Sorters and our internal sorting machines.
Box, label and pallet products.
SORTING MACHINE SET UP AND RUN
Sets up automatic sorting machine adjusting the machine sensors, machine table and roller.
Run fasteners through the sorting machine, ensuring parts ran through as "good parts", meet blueprint specifications and sorting "hot" schedule is followed.
Using micrometer, caliper and dial gauges, regularly checks "good" parts to ensure they continue to meet blueprint specs.
Recognized defects in parts that the sorting machine cannot distinguish.
Prior to run, sets counter to reflect required pieces per box to full box quantity, per customer requirements.
After each sort run, logs list of parts sorted indicating part number, pieces, customer and time required to sort.
Has knowledge and experience on setting up new products on all sort equipment with very little or no supervision.
Demonstrates leadership and self-motivated skills on all machine sorting equipment.
Trains other employees to operate any/all of the machine sorters.
Must be available to work overtime.
HOUSE KEEPING/SAFETY
Maintain cleanliness of work area.
Follows all company safety policies and procedures.
OTHER AREAS OF ASSISTANCE
Assists in other areas of the warehouse as time requires. This includes bagging parts, packaging parts and shipping.
Performs other duties as requested by the Supervisor or Lead person.
EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE
As needed, cleans machine, sensors and cameras, table and rollers to ensure proper operation of machine.
Grease machine at required intervals.
Requirements
Required:
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to read blueprints.
Ability to read micrometers, caliper and use dial gauges.
Knowledge of IATF16949 and ISO14001 requirements.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of electro-mechanical equipment (fiber optics and vision sorters).
Knowledge of fasteners.
Previous experience on similar machine sort equipment
