Under general direction, the Supervising Pharmacist provides supervision for pharmaceutical services within the San Francisco Department of Public Health to assure quality patient care, appropriate drug therapy and compliance with all applicable regulations. Procures pharmaceuticals and supplies and maintains inventory. The 2453 Supervising Pharmacist also performs other related duties as assigned. AND LICENSE: Requires possession of a valid Registered Pharmacist license issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy (Please attach a copy) License status must be "Current" according to https://search.dca.ca.gov/ SPECIAL CONDITIONS: The following minimum qualifications reflect special conditions associated with some position(s) to be filled. They may differ from the standard minimum qualifications associated with this classification. One (1) year of recent and verifiable inpatient pharmacy experience obtained within the last five years. Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted. One year of full-time employment is equivalent to 2,000 hours (2,000 hours of qualifying work experience is based on a 40-hour work week). Training and Experience (T&E) Evaluation (Weight: 100%) : The Training and Experience Evaluation exam is designed to measure the knowledge, skills, and abilities in job related areas which may include but not be limited to: Knowledge of current methods and procedures of pharmacies and contemporary pharmacy practice Knowledge of Federal, State and local regulations as related to Pharmacy Ability to supervise and monitor pharmacy staff and its functions and to delegate responsibilities appropriately Ability to develop, plan, schedule, coordinate and evaluate assigned personnel Ability to make decisions, problem solve, prioritize activities, use initiative and act independently Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records Ability to teach, train, and orient individuals in pharmacy operations and procedures, and drug therapy Ability to interact effectively with a diverse customer base Ability to communicate effectively in writing Ability to communicate effectively orally Candidates must achieve a passing score on the Training and Experience Evaluation exam to continue in the selection process and will be placed on the confidential eligible list in rank order according to their final score. Additional selection processes may be conducted by the hiring department prior to making final hiring decisions. Certification The certification rule for the eligible list resulting from this examination will be the Rule of 3 Scores.
