Assistant Controller

Requirements

• 5-8+ years of accounting experience, ideally within retail, consumer, or multi-entity environments
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting
• Experience supporting or leading month-end close processes
• Exposure to audit processes and internal controls
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to operate independently and take ownership of workstreams
• CPA preferred
• Salary Range: $120,000-$130,000

Additional Information

This a New York City based position with four days a week in office required. Aimé Leon Dore is seeking an Assistant Controller to support the accounting function and play a key role in strengthening financial operations as the company continues to scale. This role will report into the Controller. This position is ideal for someone with a strong accounting foundation who is ready to step into broader responsibility, drive process improvements, and operate with a high level of ownership in a fast-paced, growing business. Core Responsibilities Accounting & Close Ownership Support and progressively take ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting across multiple entities Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules Financial Reporting & Compliance Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP Support audit processes, including preparation of schedules and coordination with external auditors Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of cash flow reporting and forecasts to support business operations Ensure adherence to internal controls and accounting policies Process Improvement & Scalability Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and efficiency Help implement systems and workflows that support a growing, multi-entity business Strengthen documentation and standardization across accounting functions Cross-Functional Partnership Partner with Finance, Operations, and other teams to ensure accurate financial inputs and reporting Support budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with leadership Provide visibility into financial performance and key metrics Team & Leadership Development Support and mentor junior accounting staff where applicable Take on increasing leadership responsibility within the accounting function over time
