About the role

Based at our Cookeville, TN valve‑actuator production facility, the Precision Assembler plays an important role in building the high‑performance equipment that Flowserve customers rely on. In this position, you will prepare and complete detailed mechanical assemblies, follow precise documentation, and perform testing to ensure each product meets our quality standards. You will also support repair work through disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and reassembly. Working with modern tools, materials, and inspection equipment, you will contribute directly to the delivery of reliable, high‑quality Flowserve valve products.

Responsibilities

  • Complete plug valve assemblies following drawings, instructions, work orders, and assembly procedures.
  • Perform testing when required and enter test and assembly data into Excel spreadsheets.
  • Ensure all parts and components are properly cleaned prior to assembly.
  • Perform visual inspections, verify CM plans, and confirm correct alloys.
  • Operate precision measuring tools such as micrometers, verniers, and calipers, as well as hand tools including torque wrenches (setting required poundage and recording torque for open/closed valves).
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during assembly.
  • Use hoists for larger valve components and safely handle parts up to 35 lbs.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Participate in CIP activities as needed and comply with all Flowserve policies and procedures.
  • Write routine reports and communicate clearly with peers, supervisors, and customers.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality workmanship.
  • Maintain a customer-service mindset with focus on on-time delivery and quality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, QC documents, CM plans, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency operating inspection and measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers, calipers, and inspection tools.
  • Ability to use torque wrenches, hydraulic torque tools, and general hand tools.
  • Basic computer aptitude, including entering data into Excel and navigating computer systems.
  • Ability to calculate basic mathematical functions (rate, ratio, percent, unit conversions).
  • Ability to stand for long periods and safely lift up to 35 lbs, with hoist assistance for heavier components.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends on short notice.
  • Ability to identify alloy types and visually inspect components.
  • Preferred:
  • Workshop experience.
  • Knowledge of automation control or electrical components.
  • Experience as a mechanic for rotating machines, mechanical devices, or general mechanical repairs.
  • General certificate of education or vocational training.
  • HS Diploma / GED and/or 0-2 years relevant experience.
