Perform specimen receipt and accessioning according to the laboratory's standard operating procedures
Perform isolation procedures according to the laboratory's standard operating procedures to CLA responsibilities
Maintain equipment according to the laboratory's standard operating procedures
Clean labware, equipment, and benches
Prepare documents and binders for equipment and personnel records
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the established performance specifications
Perform and document routine preventative maintenance
Prepare reagents required for laboratory preparation
Communicate effectively with coworkers and non- laboratory personnel
Report all concerns of accessioning quality and/or safety to the Laboratory Director, Supervisor, or Safety Officer
Participate in inspection preparation activities
Review of controlled documents as assigned
Participate in the training of new accessioning personnel on current procedures including the following:
Provide hands-on training
Provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship while respecting various learning styles
Ensure appropriate documentation is reviewed and completed
Participate in training meetings
Prioritize a positive work environment
Exhibit a dedication to team work above and beyond scheduled daily work
Participate in projects and process improvements for sample receipt and accessioning
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in biology or related life sciences field
Excellent attention to detail
Effective written and verbal communication skills
The ability to multitask and work independently
Biophysics, Molecular biology (DNA purification, PCR, electrophoresis) or next-generation DNA sequencing laboratory experience
At least 6 months of experience with molecular biology techniques in a research or clinical laboratory
Previous clinical laboratory experience is preferred

We are looking for passionate Clinical Laboratory Associates (CLA) to be responsible for assisting our day-to-day operations, providing equipment maintenance in the clinical laboratory, completing the pre-analytical phase of testing (e.g., specimen receipt, accessioning, and plasma/buffy coat isolation), performing quality assurance procedures, while complying with all local, state, and federal laboratory requirements. Austin Expansion Update:
We are building a brand-new state-of-the-art laboratory in Austin, Texas , expected to launch in late 2027 / early 2028 , and we are looking for talented laboratory professionals who want to be part of this journey from the very beginning.
Candidates hired into this role will initially relocate to the Bay Area (Union City, CA) to train and work alongside our experienced laboratory teams. During this time (up to ~18 months), you will gain deep hands-on experience with BillionToOne's cutting-edge molecular diagnostic workflows, quality systems, and laboratory operations before transitioning to our new Austin facility once it opens.
This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on training with our experienced lab teams and become one of the founding members of our Austin laboratory.
