Manager, Personal Lines (18 month secondment)

About the role

We are looking for a Manager, Personal Lines to join our Underwriting team! This 18-month secondment/temporary hybrid role will require you to be in office three (3) days per week at our Calgary, AB office. What you'll do here: Develop methods to inspire and build a highly effective and engaged team capable of meeting the current and future needs through effective leadership. Develop, recommend, and implement leadership strategies, organizational structure, and processes/technology improvement initiatives. Organize, lead and assist in the delivery of corporate audits of each of the regions within the regional division. Liaise with Facility Association for RSP audits and other RSP requirements. Provide effective leadership by continuously keeping staff informed on initiatives and results and share responsibility for the overall performance, productivity, and engagement of team members. Develop and manage effective working relationships with the Regional Managers and underwriters, as well as your counterparts across the country and across distribution channels. Act as an ambassador for Corporate Personal Insurance liaising with Operations and Planning, Operational Performance, Sales and Business Development and Claims Management on planning, technical and administrative issues. Play a key and active role in the selection process and hiring of qualified staff. Lead by example and live our values every day. What you bring to the table: Minimum 7 to 10 years of strong leadership and management experience CIP or FCIP preferred People and/or Project Management experience with strong skills in collaboration, coaching and mentoring, and proven success in team building and managing relationships. Strong knowledge of personal lines products and systems. Leadership ability to influence and motivate people and facilitate change. Can set clear objectives and monitor the progress of multiple initiatives and deadlines. Must be able to monitor competitive practices, industry trends, or other developments impacting business results and make recommendations regarding corporate practices. Strong communication skills and ability to foster and maintain effective professional relationships at all levels of the organization. Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with insight into different perspectives and approaches. Can master multiple priorities under time constraints with a sense of urgency.
