Job Summary Northeastern University Oakland's Social Innovation Lab, funded by the Kapor Foundation, is delivering foundational responsible AI literacy to 15-30 high school students participating in Oakland's 5-week Summer Youth Employment Program. The goal of this initiative is to ensure young people have a seat at the table as critical thinkers, leaders, and designers of their own futures. The Artificial Intelligence Literacy Instructor and Facilitator will join the instructional team for the summer program (June 15 - July 24, 2025), working alongside the Primary Instructor to co-facilitate select Tuesday and/or Thursday sessions (90 minutes per session) throughout the program period. This role provides hands-on support to students and contributes to a high-quality, engaging learning environment. This is a meaningful professional opportunity for an educator with applied, industry experience and a genuine interest in responsible AI literacy and Oakland's youth. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities Session Facilitation and Co-Instruction Co-facilitate select Bridge to AI class sessions alongside the Primary Artificial Intelligence Literacy Instructor, supporting delivery of foundational responsible AI literacy content to 15-30 high school students. Lead or co-lead designated portions of sessions as assigned, bringing energy, clarity, and a practitioner's perspective to the material. Adapt facilitation approach to meet student needs in real time, maintaining an engaging learning environment. Arrive on-site prepared 30 minutes before each assigned session; maintain reliable attendance for all scheduled commitments. Train the Trainers - Attendance and Preparation Attend the mandatory 8-hour Train the Trainers program prior to the start of the summer session. Actively participate in this pre-program training, designed and led by the Primary Instructor, which covers AI fundamentals, age-appropriate facilitation techniques, culturally responsive pedagogy, and classroom management strategies for youth audiences. Apply learnings directly to facilitation work throughout the summer. Student Engagement and Classroom Support Support individual students and small groups during hands-on activities, discussions, and applied learning exercises. Provide encouragement, coaching, and real-time guidance as students engage with AI tools and concepts. Model critical and curious engagement with AI that the program aims to cultivate. Program Support and Collaboration Collaborate with the Primary Instructor and Northeastern University Oakland program staff throughout the engagement. Contribute to planning conversations and debriefs as needed; provide feedback on student engagement and instructional pacing. Disclose all scheduling conflicts and unavailable dates in advance - reliability is essential. Attendance at the program's closing ceremony (July 24, 2025) is strongly encouraged.
