Job Description Summary The Toolmaker II (Contractor) is responsible for the fabrication, modification, and inspection of precision tools, fixtures, and components. This role involves performing advanced equipment setup and maintenance, using precision measurement tools, fabricating fixtures, and adhering to shop safety and best practices. The Toolmaker II will also be proficient in operating laser tracker equipment and associated software, performing dimensional measurements, and troubleshooting tooling issues. In this role, you will fabricate and assemble jigs, fixtures, and tooling to precise specifications while maintaining a clean and organized work area. You will follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as you read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints, including GD&T principles. Additionally, you will maintain and repair tooling, ensuring it meets quality and performance standards, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to contribute to process optimization. You will document work performed and maintain accurate records of tooling maintenance and repairs. Proficient in operating laser tracker equipment and associated software (e.g., Verisurf, Spatial Analyzer), you will perform independent laser tracker measurements and basic toolmaking tasks under general supervision. You will set up and operate laser tracker equipment with minimal supervision, perform more complex dimensional measurements and data analysis, and fabricate and assemble tooling fixtures with increasing complexity. Furthermore, you will troubleshoot basic laser tracker and tooling issues and document measurement results and tooling processes accurately.
