Team and what they do:
Operational Risk & Return Committee (ORRC)
Reporting into the broader Enterprise Risk and Return Council and the board, the ORRC team leads cross-functional risk councils and working groups that drive transparent risk visibility and informed decision-making across the organization.
The team brings together subject matter experts to review top and emerging risks, control updates, policies, and assessment results, ensuring risks are well understood, prioritized, and addressed.
Key outcomes of the forums led by this team include clear, timely risk decisions and escalation of material issues, early identification of emerging risks, strengthened control environment and mitigation actions, alignment of policies and standards with evolving threats and improved risk prioritization and visibility into control gaps
This role helps ensures discussions are structured, inputs are high quality, and decisions are actionable.
Specific Work Scope - Expert
Primary stakeholder interaction: EVP and SVP-level leaders
Drive Executive decisions through rigorous frameworks, technical credibility, and trusted influence; elevating how risk and return are understood and acted upon.
Essential Functions
Lead Executive risk decision forums at the senior-most levels : prepare EVP/SVP-level discussions to drive high-stakes, enterprise risk and return decisions
Challenge and elevate strategic risk narratives: Act as a trusted challenger to senior leadership, ensuring risks are thoroughly vetted before decisions are made.
Influence and drive alignment on frameworks, templates, and decision standards that set the enterprise standard for how risk is evaluated and communicated.
Apply deep technical and security expertise: Anchor decisions in realistic, credible technical understanding, especially in complex environments.
Provide Thought Leadership in risk decisioning: Shape the organization's approach to risk, not just individual decisions.
Champion least privilege as a strategic principle: Position least privilege as both technical control and business risk discipline.
Influence at the highest levels: Operate as a trusted advisor to EVP/SVP leaders, influencing without formal authority.
Required Qualifications
Seven plus years of progressive experience in operational risk, technology risk (Artificial Intelligence, Data, Data Models, systems) Cybersecurity, Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery, or enterprise risk management
Executive-Level Facilitation & Influence: Proven experience leading or facilitating discussions with EVP/SVP-level stakeholders, and ability to drive high-stakes, enterprise-level risk and return decisions
Enterprise Risk Management: Strong background in enterprise risk management (ERM), operational risk, or related disciplines, and experience identifying, assessing, and prioritizing top and emerging risks
Strategic Thinking & Risk Decisioning: Demonstrated ability to shape and challenge risk narratives at a senior leadership level, and experience ensuring risks are rigorously vetted and actionable decisions are made
Frameworks & Governance: Track record of building or implementing risk frameworks, standards, templates, and governance models, and ability to standardize how risk is evaluated, documented, and communicated enterprise-wide
Technical & Security Acumen: Solid understanding of security, controls, and complex technology environments, and ability to apply technical credibility when influencing risk decisions
Stakeholder Management & Influence: Proven ability to influence without authority across senior leadership teams, and experience operating as a trusted advisor in cross-functional environments
Thought Leadership: Experience shaping or evolving an organization's approach to enterprise risk decisioning
Strong Communication Skills: Ability to translate complex technical and risk concepts into clear, executive-level messaging, and skilled in driving structured, outcome-oriented discussions
