Perform radiation and contamination surveys in support of nuclear decommissioning, remediation, and facility operations
Establish, maintain, and adjust radiological zones, postings, and access controls in response to evolving work conditions
Conduct contamination monitoring, swipe sampling, and release verification of personnel, tools, equipment, and work areas
Prevent and mitigate the spread of contamination through timely intervention and application of appropriate controls
Independent Judgment & Hazard Management
Anticipate radiological hazards associated with evolving work activities and implement preventive or corrective controls
Independently exercise stop-work authority and apply immediate radiological controls when unsafe or abnormal conditions are identified
Make defensible radiation protection decisions when immediate supervisory support may not be available, escalating issues appropriately while supporting safe and continuous work execution
Communication & Field Leadership
Communicate radiation protection expectations clearly and professionally to workers, supervisors, and project leadership
Balance operational demands with radiation protection requirements while maintaining compliance and worker safety
Instrumentation & Technical Controls
Independently perform operational checks, functional testing, and field verification of radiation protection instrumentation
Select, deploy, and interpret readings from dose rate meters, contamination monitors, air monitoring equipment, and alarmed devices
Identify instrument limitations, failures, or anomalous readings and take corrective action to ensure reliable radiological data
Documentation & Event Response
Maintain accurate radiological records, survey results, zoning documentation, and work-related RP logs
Support response to radiological events, unusual conditions, or procedural deviations, including documentation and follow-up actions
Contribute to post-work reviews and continuous improvement of radiation protection practices
Requirements
Certification through the National Registry of Radiation Protection Technologists (NRRPT) or an equivalent recognized RP credential
A minimum of three (3) years of hands-on radiation protection experience supporting nuclear facilities or decommissioning activities
Demonstrated experience performing senior-level RP work involving independent field decision-making
Proven ability to work effectively with limited supervision in active industrial or nuclear settings
Strong working knowledge of radiation protection principles, instrumentation, and field application

We are seeking senior, field-experienced Radiation Protection Technicians (RPTs) with demonstrated capability supporting complex nuclear facilities and decommissioning activities. Successful candidates are individuals who operate with a high degree of technical independence, exercise professional judgment in the field, and take an active role in maintaining radiological safety during high-risk or non-routine work.
Radiation Protection Technicians will report to the Radiation Protection Manager.
