The Wire Investigations team handles requests for wires that have already been processed. This can include, but not limited, to amendments (updating a wire), traces (locating the wire), and recalls (the wire needs to be returned). This involves research within wire platforms and communicating with clients and banks all over the world. Wire Investigations is an essential part of operations as it assists UMB's clients ensuring their wire payments get to where they need to be. As Operations Specialists , you will support and manage the day-to-day transactions of UMB's wires for domestic and international clients. As the primary task of assisting clients with their wire needs, you will be a vital part to the continued success of UMB's wires team and electronic payments department. This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which will include multiple initiatives as assigned by Bank Operations leadership. We have 2 openings and both roles are hybrid (Mon through Thu on-site / Fri remote; 9:30 - 6 PM) at the UMB Technology & Operations Center located in downtown Kansas City, MO. How you will spend your time (1st Opening): Communicate timely and effectively with all clients (including high profile clients) and/or internal and external business partners. Review and analyze the ISO text of a wire. Investigate and solve problems that arise during a wire's lifecycle. Investigate outstanding items within UMB's foreign accounts. Process exception or escalated tasks for time critical or high-profile issues to ensure satisfactory resolution. Investigate exceptions and/or errors to identify cause and corrective action. Understand and remain current on related industry activity, changes, regulations, announcements. Perform system balances and investigate differences. How you will spend your time (2nd Opening): Settle the bank's daily obligations with the National Securities Clearing Corporation (NSCC), Depository Trust Company (DTCC), domestic bank accounts and central bank (Federal Reserve Bank). Build and support applications that provide specialized reporting of Electronic Funds transactions. Processes transactions involving the movement of money between bank owned accounts or from UMB accounts to accounts at other banks, ensuring that they process accurately and on a timely basis. Ensures documentation is adequate to support activity. Adheres to all procedures, regulations, and policies. Support all processing within the Wire Operations teams. Identifies and resolves General Ledger differences and account discrepancies with our reconciliation partners Operate with little supervision based on thorough knowledge and application of procedures of the assigned position. We are excited to talk if you have: Associate degree or equivalent experience. At least 5 years of experience with banking or financial processing or equivalent experience. Attention to detail, organization, and time management skills, including the ability to perform job functions with numerous interruptions. Ability to utilize technical aptitude that allows for quick learning of company systems, platforms, and products. Knowledge of risk types and ability to mitigate independently or escalate appropriately. Strong customer services skills. Ability to work autonomously, escalating issues or problems as appropriate. Ability to recognize errors, issues, special requests, or inconsistencies in daily operations to solve or escalate to appropriate associate or manager. Compensation Ranges: US Employees in California, Washington DC, New Jersey, and New York: $47,100 - $68,600 US Employees in Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin: $43,000 - $62,800 US Employees in all other states not listed above: $38,910 - $56,990 The posted compensation range on this listing represents UMB's good faith and reasonable estimate based on its budget and what it expects to be the starting pay for this role, but the actual compensation may vary by geographic location, experience level, and other job-related factors.
