About the role
We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep of a portfolio of retail and residential properties across Toronto. This hands-on role is responsible for ensuring the properties are maintained to the highest standards of safety, environmental responsibility, and operational efficiency. Perform preventive maintenance, including HVAC filter changes. Ensure contracted property services meet performance standards and contribute to a safe and clean environment. Use the Building Management Software System (Angus Anywhere) to respond promptly to tenant work orders and preventive maintenance tasks. Conduct weekly inspections of vacant units and report any unusual conditions. Assist with contractor access to properties and coordinate site tours as needed. Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies; provide recommendations to the Operations Supervisor. Oversee third-party contractors to ensure work is completed in accordance with contracts or purchase orders. Complete regular utility meter readings.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training preferred.
- Experience in general building maintenance, basic repairs, and systems operations.
- Hands-on experience with residential repair work.
- Experience working with or supervising contractors is an asset.
- Familiarity with Angus Anywhere or similar Building Management Systems is considered an asset.
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety procedures (e.g., WHMIS, Lockout/Tagout, fall protection, mold remediation) is an advantage.
- Flexible availability, including participation in on-call coverage.
- Physical ability to walk 6-10 miles daily between properties and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Strong service orientation and a commitment to maintaining high property standards.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
