Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus three (3) years of experience related to grounds keeping or general labor services, including at least one (1) year of crew experience.
Experience may substitute for education up to four (4) years.
Licenses and Certifications Required:
If assigned to operate vehicles, must possess the appropriate Texas Driver's License for those vehicles.
Certification/License may be required by trade or specialization.
Preferred Qualifications/Preferred Experience:
Experience coordinating, supporting, and delegating assignments for large volunteer work groups supporting special events ranging from 20,000 to 75,000 people in attendance.
Experience supervising and assigning daily task for ten (10) or more employees who will be preforming janitorial and general park maintenance.
Experience operating and maintaining large and small commercial equipment, such as hand tools, floor buffer, shop vac, blowers, and string trimmers.
Experience providing safety training and completing incident reports in Industry Safe or similar program.
Experience working independently while prioritizing and completing projects on large acreage properties.
Experience inspecting, documenting, and completing park and playground inspections.
Experience operating a truck and trailer.
Preferred Skills:
Intermediate experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
Intermediate experience using Maximo or similar work order software.
Other:
Ability to travel to more than one work location.

The purpose of the Parks Grounds Crew Leader position is to lead personnel in the inspection and maintenance of city parks and facilities for Austin Parks and Recreation.

Work/Location Schedule:
Monday through Friday: 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and includes a weekend rotating shift.
May be required to work during special events, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Work schedule and location is subject to change based on department needs and programs.
May be required to work during City emergencies such as extreme weather events
Salary Range:
$23.13 - $26.26 per hour

Purpose:
Under general supervision, leads a crew that performs specialized maintenance, construction, and/or grounds keeping tasks in and around City parks grounds and recreational facilities.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

Maintains and repairs rockwork, concrete.

Assembles and dismantles portable stages and seating arrangements.
Drives and operates vehicles.
Assists supervisor with the development of work schedules and plans work activities.
Assists the public with questions/concerns.
