Purpose of role: The SME - Asset Accounting will act as the process owner and technical expert across Fixed Assets and Lease Accounting (IFRS 16). The role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely recording financial reporting, strong controls, effective stakeholder management, and continuous process improvement while supporting operational teams and driving performance excellence while ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. The Asset Accounting Senior Analyst is also responsible for supervising and monitoring a team to deliver Fixed Asset and Lease accounting and reporting services. The role entails ample opportunities and requires working with senior stakeholders across BP's FBT teams, liaise up with BP-wide finance and control teams! Key Results / Accountabilities: Operational Competencies Transaction Governance & Control - Oversee accurate and timely recording of critical and complex financial transactions while ensuring adherence to controls and policy compliance. Financial Close & Reporting - Drive end-to-end asset accounting close and ensure timely, accurate delivery of QAR, KPI, and statutory reporting. Process Expertise & Ownership - Act as the SME for Fixed Assets and IFRS 16, ensuring correct accounting treatment and resolving complex queries. Provide deep process domain expertise and serve as the point of contact for call out operational issues Reconciliations & Compliance - Review BSA reconciliations and ensure completeness, accuracy, and effectiveness of internal controls. Stakeholder Management - Act as the primary contact for stakeholders, ensuring effective and timely resolution of queries and proactive escalation of issues. Analytics & Continuous Improvement- Perform root cause analysis on key metrics and drive process improvements, automation, and efficiency initiatives. Audit & Risk Management - Support internal and external audits, ensuring documentation readiness and closure of audit observations.
