Job Description:
A research associate position is available in the laboratory of Alyssa Johnson at Louisiana State University. In collaboration with Adam Bohnert at LSU, our research group is studying lysosome biology in the context of aging and disease using C. elegans and Drosophila as model organisms. We are seeking an individual to join our team who will perform molecular, biochemical, and genetic analysis of tubular lysosome biology. The individual will also organize standard lab operating procedures, prepare lab reagents, and assist other lab members with research projects as needed.
Duties Include:
75% Independently maintain lab stocks and reagents, prepare media for animal maintenance and experiments, and perform experiments in live C. elegans and Drosophila. Scientific techniques will include microscopy, worm and fly genetics, molecular biology (cloning), and biochemistry.
25% Organize and maintain standard lab operating procedures, including lab orders/budgets, package receipt and shipment, equipment upkeep, and organization of reagents and protocols. Supervise/train/manage other lab members and students.
