THIS WORK MATTERS! Integrated Clinical Services (ICS) provides quality health services for people who experience barriers to accessing care. The Dental Program works with many community partners, targeting underserved populations in Multnomah County to ensure access to dental services including providing education, prevention and dental treatment. The Dental Assistant (EFDA) is responsible for a variety of duties to assist Dentists and Dental Hygienists in the delivery of dental care to patients. This recruitment will fill Bilingual Spanish and English Dental Assistant positions . Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA): Bilingual in Spanish and English (language testing may be required) **The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future full-time, part-time, regular, temporary, limited duration, and on-call positions. As an EFDA, you will perform the following duties: Clinical Functions and Provider Support Provides direct clinical assistance and support to Dentists and Dental Hygienists Performs all aspects of 4-handed dentistry using effective and efficient techniques; mixes materials; places rubber dam; takes study models impressions. Anticipates provider needs during treatment. Keeps the provider informed of all schedule changes and unfilled appointments. Triages emergency patients, makes providers aware of clients needs. Performs Dental Assisting and expanded functions, including rubber cup prophylaxis, applying sealants, polishing amalgams, placing/removing matrix retainers, removes excess cement and placing temporary restorations. Resources Management/Infection Control Sets up and disinfects operatories following the proper procedures ensuring all instruments and supplies are available for patient care. Reports necessary repair needs, observes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines and monitors supply (Inventory) levels. Customer Service Interacts with patients in a respectful and courteous manner. Proactively monitors client wait times and ensures patients are kept informed of schedule delays. Conducts phone follow-up and documentation for missed patient appointments. Acts as liaison with treatment staff and providers. Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade . Possession of an appropriate and valid certificate of Expanded Function Dental Assistant, including a certification of radiologic proficiency issued by the Oregon State Board of Dental Examiners (A graduate from an accredited dental assistant program) BLS CPR Certification or ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire. Successful completion of a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association is a prerequisite for performing the application of pit and fissure sealants. Successful completion of courses of instruction required prior to certification. Preferred Qualification: One(1) year of responsible dental assistant experience. Other: This position requires a background investigation, which may include being fingerprinted.
