The ideal candidate will be in the Northeastern one third of Nebraska. Other locations may be considered. Substantial travel, mostly within the state, required. Most work is done outside regardless of the weather. Schedule: Varied; usual schedule 4-10 hour days. Based on business need. Hiring Rate: $55,000.00 - $57,000 salary is negotiable commensurate with experience; may be eligible for 5% increase after 6-month original probation. Job Duties: Perform examination of grain elevators and grain dealers licensed by the state. Perform audits for the Nebraska Soybean Board. Write reports of findings and recommendations and advise management of corrective action to be taken. Evaluate information to determine compliance with standards, using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards. Follow rules and regulations and complete regulatory actions in such a way that the customer perceives as fair, objective and reasonable. Learn, retain, stay current with, and explain state regulations and processes and procedures within a particular area of examination. Inspect and test moisture meters for moisture content of grain relating to storage, purchase, or sale according to established Rules & Regulations. Requirements/Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; an agricultural background or experience; experience with laptop computers, Excel software; able to travel throughout the State with overnight stays (approximately 35%). Preferred: Post high school coursework and/or degree in agriculture or business. Other: Must possess a valid Nebraska driver's license and successfully complete the State of Nebraska defensive driving program. Must be able to tolerate exposure to grain and grain dust, able to climb ladders, able to lift up to 50 pounds, be able to work at heights up to 150 feet and able to work in any outdoor weather conditions. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of: the agriculture industry. Skilled in: high school math skills, including successful completion of algebra and geometry; accurately inputting data into a computer and using email and Internet programs. Ability to: Conduct examinations; compile and interpret examination data; prepare accurate and concise reports; present findings; learn, interpret and apply agency guidelines, rules and procedures; interact with individuals to gain their confidence and to establish rapport; communicate with the public and business proprietors; prioritize work in a time efficient manner; work outdoors in inclement weather and in an environment exposed to physical hazards, and work l ong working days and irregular hours as needed .
