Under the direction of the pharmacist, the pharmacy technician carries out delegated tasks to adhere to five rights--right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, and the right frequency--to prepare pharmaceutical products accurately adhering to established guidelines. Completes documentation on time and in compliance with organizational, state, and federal statutes, regulations, and policies relating to the record keeping requirements of pharmaceutical handling. Obtains an accurate admission medication history necessary for the patient care team's initial assessment by assessing the patient's ability to participate in a face-to-face interview and applies knowledge of medications to ensure list of medications are complete where applicable. Implements quality measures into product preparation, storage security, and delivery, and when compiling an accurate patient medication history. Responds to patient-related queries and directs them to pharmacists for clarification on issues concerning drug information and interactions. Performs routine maintenance/activities necessary to ensure equipment is in good condition.
