UQ Clinical Trials Centre | Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences Fixed-term, research-focused position through to 31 December 2028 Flexible part-time or full-time opportunity (50-100% FTE negotiable) Base salary will range from $83,698 - $138,769 (Academic Level A/B) + 17% Superannuation Based at our Herston campus About This Opportunity We are seeking a highly motivated, talented and driven Biostatistician to join our dedicated team in the UQ Clinical Trials Centre (UQ CTC) . This is an exciting opportunity for an academic Level A or B Biostatistician to provide support and leadership in the design, conduct, analysis, and reporting of high-quality randomised clinical trials that are being conducted in collaboration with UQ CTC. As a key member of UQ CTC's Biostatistics team, you will provide biostatistical expertise across multiple trials - including trial design, randomisation, data monitoring, statistical analysis plans, interim and final analyses, and publication. At Level A, the focus will be on building research independence - contributing to the statistical design and analysis of clinical trials under guidance, developing methodological expertise, and contributing to research outputs. At Level B, the appointee will lead and coordinate statistical components of clinical trials, initiate methodological research projects, and demonstrate emerging national recognition through high-quality outputs and successful grant participation. The successful candidate will also have opportunities to contribute to methodological research relevant to clinical trials, mentor and support other UQ CTC team members, engage with national and international clinical trial investigators and statistical collaborators, and contribute to internal and external service and engagement activities. About You This opportunity is being offered at Academic Level A or B commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications, skills and experience. At Academic Level A, you will demonstrate: Completion or near completion of a Masters and/or PhD in Biostatistics, or a related area. Clinical Trial Experience: experience contributing to statistical aspects of clinical trials (design, protocol development, statistical analysis plans, reporting). Research Track Record: an emerging research profile as evidenced by publications in well regarded peer-reviewed journals. Technical Skills: accomplished analysis programming skills in at least one software package (preferably R or Stata), and capacity to develop skills in other statistical software packages. Regulatory Knowledge: an emerging familiarity with regulatory and reporting standards for clinical trials (e.g., ICH E9, CONSORT, etc). Communication Skills: an ability to effectively communicate sophisticated statistical concepts, both in writing and verbally. Organisational Skills: an ability to organise and prioritise work objectives. In addition, to be considered at Academic Level B, you will demonstrate: Completion of a Masters and/or PhD in Biostatistics, or a related area. Clinical Trial Experience: experience leading statistical aspects of clinical trials (design, protocol development, statistical analysis plans, reporting). Research Track Record: A growing research profile as evidenced by publications in well regarded peer-reviewed journals, and contributions to grant applications. Regulatory Knowledge: A well-developed familiarity with regulatory and reporting standards for clinical trials (e.g., ICH E9, CONSORT, etc). A growing record of supervision of Research Higher Degree students to successful completion. Experience in meaningful internal service roles in conjunction with active contributions to external activities. Interested?
