Under direct supervision, is responsible for stocking supplies issued from receiving and pulling orders in a cost effective and timely manner to satisfy customer. Cleans and disinfects area as appropriate to maintain the integrity of the sterile and non-sterile medical supplies. Identifies and responds to system failures by notifying the manager. Coordinates functions in collaboration with the Par-linen and Clinical staff as appropriate Job Responsibilities: Facilitates the warehousing and storage of medical supplies. Maintains all supplies in accordance with OSHA, JACHO, AORN, AAMI and IAHCSMM standards Maintains adequate levels of all needed supplies according to established par levels and works collaboratively with Materials management team to assure inventory adjustments are made based usage. Maintains proper records, logs and paperwork as relevant to inventory. Has knowledge of workflow patterns that protects against cross contamination of sterile supplies and maintains cleanliness of work environment. Manages supply and distribution. Receives supplies and stocks in appropriate locations. Assess packages for expiration dates, package integrity, discoloration, (in accordance with AAMI, CDC, JCAHO, and AORN guidelines) to ensure sterility has not been compromised. Follows principles of first in, first out (FIFO). Reads and interprets department requisitions. Alerts appropriate personnel of backorder items. Assists with staff orientation and development. Assists with the orientation and on-the-job-training of new and existing staff. Participates with presenting in-service and staff development sessions. Maintains knowledge of MSDS access. Assists with the development, review and revision of department policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and the institution. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Minimum Education and/or Training: High school diploma/GED required Central Sterile Supply Technician training preferred Minimum Experience: One (1) years of experience in central supply, sterile processing, distribution, shipping/receiving or other related field required.
