Student Engagement: Foster a dynamic and interactive learning environment, promoting student engagement and critical thinking. Regularly communicate with students and provide timely and constructive feedback on assignments, projects, and assessments.
Residency Weekends: Participate in residency weekend class sessions as part of the executive format. Engage with students during face-to-face interactions, ensuring a positive and enriching experience. The University hosts weekend residencies at various locations across the US.
Student Support: Offer academic support to students through office hours, online communication, and other appropriate means. Facilitate discussions, address inquiries, and guide students in their academic and professional development.
Professional Development: Stay abreast of developments in Computer Science educational technology, and pedagogical best practices. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching effectiveness.
Other Duties and Responsibilities : As may be assigned by the University.
Requirements
Ph.D.: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems (ABD or other fields do not meet this qualification).
Significant Online Teaching Experience: Demonstrated experience in developing and teaching online graduate-level courses, preferably in Computer Science or related technical fields.
US Citizenship or Legal Permanent Residency: Candidates must be US citizens or legal permanent residents and reside in the US.
Expertise: Strong expertise in one or more of the following areas: Mobile Application Development, Software Engineering, Operating Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining, Cybersecurity, and Computer Networking.
Required Skills/Characteristics:
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard, D2L).

The University of the Cumberlands seeks qualified candidates for part-time faculty positions in our Masters program in Computer Science. Successful candidates will hold an earned Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems and have a strong background in online course instruction at the graduate level. Part-time faculty members will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses in both online and executive formats, including residency weekend class sessions.
