The main part of this role is to prepare samples for evaluation and testing; this is a repetitive task that requires accuracy and attention to detail including:
Accurately prepare samples in all different formats for perfumers and evaluation teams
Accurately record all laboratory work
Safely handle and label all products
Work closely with the lab coordinator to ensure materials continuity
Work closely with laboratory team and project manager to ensure samples are prepared on time
Ensure all equipment is kept clean and calibrated for accurate use
Support the team with shipping samples to other HUBs and testing agencies following all the logistics requirements
Support the team to run stability crash tests to ensure fragrance stability within the products
Comply with all safety and lab management procedures (Risk Assessment, Health Safety, Laboratory Management, Standard Procedures).
Update project team on challenges and timing changes.

Key Skills Needed:
Practical laboratory experience in making samples is preferred with a proven keen eye for safe and effective procedures.
Curiosity in fragrance is essential. Some background in perfumery, chemistry and formulation knowledge and understanding would be useful.
Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work alone as required
Awareness of safety within the laboratory ideally including working to standard operating procedures, risk assessment and CoSHH.
Highly motivated; numerate with great attention to detail and an interest in products and fragrances.
Ability to communicate clearly around deadlines and challenges.
Digitally literate.
Ability to stay calm in a fast-paced environment and with changing priorities.

Job Purpose
This role sits within the UFH Lab Operations team that works across all Unilever Business Groups globally, in a fast-paced environment working alongside the fragrance R&D teams. The role will be to provide laboratory support to prepare application samples for evaluation and testing. You will work as part of a team; working proactively and independently in a multi-functional, multi-cultural environment; adhering to prescribed procedures and health and safety guidelines.
