Coordinates and performs permit interpretation, applicability determinations including NSR/PSD evaluations, preparation and submittal of applications/modifications, reviews and commenting on technical support documents and draft permits, and lead agency negotiations .
Reviews/prepares and submits air quality reports, notifications, and filings (e.g., emissions inventories, stack test notifications, periodic compliance reports, deviation reports, etc.).
Monitors, conduct complex/advanced data analysis, interprets, and prepares summaries or provides technical guidance for existing and new regulations or legislation. Comments on rules for assigned subject areas.
Assists with facility compliance reviews, training sessions, and compliance audits.
Serves as an internal expert resource for assigned subject areas
Develops, recommends, and implements plans to address complex compliance problems that require the input and efforts from various departments that may be both internal or external to the company.
Ability to swiftly prioritize tasks to ensure responsiveness and support to stakeholders, which may be on a time-sensitive or expedited schedule. Interfaces directly with regulatory agencies as appropriate.

Has typically acquired 4 or more years of related engineering experience along with a bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*
Or 2 years of related engineering experience along with a master's degree in engineering from a program accredited by ABET*
Individuals with a PhD in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at this level Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred.

Acceptable alternative:
Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited bachelor's program.

Job Summary
This role is part of the AEP Service Corps and based at a corporate office location. The candidate will be responsible for independently executing permitting, reporting, project, and compliance support primarily for assigned existing or new power generating stations. Responsibilities will also include periodic air permit and compliance support for other company facilities (e.g., electric transmission and distribution, operating company service centers, office buildings, or other regulated and commercial business operations). The individual will perform regulatory tracking and be expected to exhibit expert or advanced level proficiency for assigned regulatory topics that enables them to serve as a subject matter expert. Previous air compliance experience (e.g., NSR/PSD, Title V, emission inventories, NSPS, NESHAP, compliance reporting, regulatory applicability analysis), a working knowledge of state rules within our operating territory, and self-motivation is a must. Electric utility experience is preferred.
