Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
Drive risk management programs to enhance the company's operational risk framework and investment risk framework, helping to deliver short-term outcomes and longer-term strategic development of the function.
Deliver risk analysis and insights to the Board of Directors, Risk Control Committee, and Risk Management Committee, including the CEO and COO.
Oversee day-to-day elements of the operational risk framework:
Maintain and enhance operational risk management policies and procedures and standards for risk assessment, error reporting, error resolution and management reporting.
Ensure there is an effective process for risk incident and breach reporting and error resolution, including the delivery of supporting management information and analytics.
Ensure there is an effective process for risk and control assessment and remediation action plans.
Design and deliver training on our operational risk framework for new joiners, senior leaders and all FMC employees.
Partner with Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Leaders and global Risk Management colleagues to discuss operational risk matters, provide support and ensure risk culture is embedded in teams.
Oversee day-to-day elements of the investment risk framework:
Perform portfolio-level risk analysis and decomposition across different product lines by managing data, reports, and metrics already in place. Help in analyzing performance attribution.
Perform stress tests and scenario analysis
Perform liquidity analysis and stress tests
Manage the counterparty approval process and overall framework
Support risk reviews of new products and initiatives, and critical vendors and third parties.
Attend industry forums and events to stay current on industry best practice, sharing that information with AB's global risk function.
Fiduciary Requirements
Support client RFP and due diligence activities with regard to operational risk.
Co-operate and co-ordinate with Compliance, Legal and Internal Audit on system and control issues.
Co-operate and co-ordinate with other SBUs (eg. Information Security) in identifying material risks and mitigating material errors.
Ensure regulatory change related to risk management is implemented and embedded in business practices. Engage with business stakeholders on other regulatory implementation (where appropriate).
People Management
Attract high calibre and diverse talent to the firm;
Mentor and contribute to the development of junior team members;
Successfully manage direct reports to enable them to operate at their highest level;
Engage in firm people activities (e.g. recruitment, performance management, promotion, change management, diversity and inclusion).
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, a high level of intellectual curiosity, and good interpersonal and communication skills.
Significant previous experience in risk management in the onshore China investment management sector.
Experience implementing operational and/or risk management policies and procedures.
Experience implementing operational and/or risk systems, reporting and management information.
Experience delivering presentations to senior management and governance committees.
Experience developing and delivering operational risk training.
Strong written and oral communication skills, demonstrating clarity and accuracy.
Self-starter with initiative and ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
Strong organization and multi-tasking capabilities, strong attention to detail
Experience with xQuant, WIND, etc
Proficiency in English.
