Job Description Summary
The Research Specialist will provide analytical toxicology support for veterinary diagnostic cases and related research activities. This position requires effective communication with supervisors, colleagues, and clients in a collaborative team environment. The Research Specialist will receive training in both organic and inorganic analytical techniques, with an initial focus on HPLC, GC/MS, and mercury analysis and contributing to research projects. Cross-training will be provided to serve as a backup for other sections, such as ICP/MS and LC/MS/MS. Duties and responsibilities may be reassigned and/or expanded to correspond with increased test proficiency, changes in caseload, and evolution of staff assignments.
Job Description
This position is located at our New Bolton Center campus in Kennett Square, PA (Chester County), which is approximately 33 miles outside of Philadelphia. There is no public transportation at this location. You must have your own transportation.
Job Responsibilities
Perform sample preparation and conduct analyses using HPLC, GC/MS, mercury analyzer, and other analytical instrumentation
Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure accurate and reliable results
Support research projects and contribute to method development as assigned
Accurately log incoming case samples, enter test data, maintain laboratory records, and ensure compliance with quality standards
Assist with ICP/MS and other analytical methods on a backup basis when needed
Draft, review, and revise standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
