10 The Role: Sales Executive, Sustainable1 (S1)
Location: Tokyo, Japan
The Team: This position plays a key role in supporting and enhancing the penetration of our Sustainable1 offerings into the various client segment in Japan. The focus is on identifying the persona-specific pain points and needs of clients; understanding how the S&P products meet these needs in order to deliver high-quality sustainability solutions to clients; coordination and collaboration across teams to support market penetration strategies that enhance the value and appeal of our sustainability solutions.
The Impact: The Sales Executive, S1, will be a key contributor in delivering Sustainability Solutions to clients in Japan. This role demands a business-oriented candidate with exceptional communication skills and a strong affinity for revenue generation.
Responsibilities
Identify and engage new potential clients in Japan focusing on sustainability
Execute client-specific relationship strategies and manage the end-to-end sales cycle from prospecting to contract closure
Create tailored solutions and proposals that meet specific client requirements in collaboration with internal teams
Achieve sales targets and contribute to the overall growth of the S1 portfolio within the Japanese market
Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders to stay current on sector and thematic market trends
Represent S&P Global as a knowledgeable professional in sustainability area
Requirements
Basic Required Qualifications:
Fluent proficiency in both Japanese and English languages
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, environmental science, or related field
5-7 years of client-facing sales experience with proven track record of managing end-to-end sales cycles
Experience selling data, analytics, or SaaS solutions to financial services sector clients
Strong understanding of sustainability concepts, financial impact associated with it
Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Working experience within Japanese large companies, top financial institutions or government with understanding of organizational structures and processes
Previous sales experience specifically focused on sustainability solutions
Proven ability to collaborate effectively across multiple functions, regions, and divisions in complex organizations
Strong discipline around sales processes including CRM reporting, pitch development, and pipeline management
