Additional Information
Introduction to the job
The Manufacturing NPI (New Product Introduction) organization ensures that newly designed functionalities can be successfully transferred from D&E into volume production. This position specializes in the software and computer system for system and submodules, ensuring new designs are manufacturable, stable, diagnosable, and ready for factory volume production.
This role is not traditional software development. Instead, it focuses on:
Linux‑based control system behavior
C# / python control logic interpretation, MATLAB as plus
motion‑control and automation sequence analysis
diagnostics, signal/power tracing, IO/communication behavior
manufacturability and testability readiness before volume build
You will work closely with D&E, process engineering, and integration teams to identify risks early and ensure smooth and robust NPI ramp‑up.
Role and responsibilities
New Product Introduction (NPI)
Participate in D&E design reviews with a focus on software, control logic, automation sequences, and diagnostic readiness.
Foresee manufacturability issues early and provide feedback to improve software-control robustness.
Validate that new modules include necessary error tables, logs, test hooks, trace signals, and support effective troubleshooting.
Prepare manufacturing for volume takeover by defining required sequences, procedures, and control‑related checks.
Drive smooth D&E → Manufacturing release for new module/submodule designs.
Software & Control Diagnostics
Software & Control Diagnostics
Analyze Linux-based module behavior, automation flows, and C# / C++ control sequences.
Perform signal and power tracing, IO/communication diagnostics, and analyze motion profiles (position/velocity/acceleration).
Distinguish issues caused by: software logic /automation sequence timing /IO/memory behavior /PCB/electrical interactions/mechatronic coupling
Provide structured technical feedback to D&E for design improvement and reliability enhancement.
3rd Line Support for NPI Builds
Support early‑phase hardware and software integration during engineering and pilot builds.
Resolve complex module/submodule issues that exceed factory 1st‑line capability.
Provide clear, structured problem definitions for D&E and guide triage on MDEV/MTD cases.
Ensure zero-repeat issues through design improvements, diagnostic enhancements, or process changes.
Process, Documentation & Factory Readiness
Define and maintain NPI control‑related sequences, diagnostic guides, and test flows.
Ensure all work prep, procedures, acceptance criteria, logs, and test sequences are ready before ramp.
Identify missing processes or diagnostic gaps and create new documentation as needed.
Validate that the factory has complete, accurate, and up‑to‑date instructions for new modules.
Stakeholder Management & Coaching
Represent Manufacturing in D&E/PGP discussions for module introduction.
Collaborate with TS, CS, ME, SCE, Quality, and cross‑factory engineering teams.
Coach engineers and operators on module behavior, control troubleshooting, and NPI-specific diagnostics.
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science , Software Engineering, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation , or related technical fields.
Technical Skills
Experience with Linux-based control systems.
Proficiency in C# and/or C++, especially for understanding and analyzing system control logic (not application-level coding).
Familiarity with: Motion control fundamentals (position/velocity/acceleration loops) / Automation control theory /IO interfaces, communication protocols, and memory behaviors / PCB basics, schematic reading, and signal/power tracing
Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills for root cause analysis.
Problem-Solving
Experience with system-level debugging, control logic analysis, or automation/machine troubleshooting.
Ability to translate ambiguous system symptoms into clear, structured technical problems.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Ability to work closely with D&E, presenting technical findings and participating in deep-dive engineering discussions.
Capable of delivering technical presentations during interviews (topic assigned by hiring manager).
