How you'll add value in the role of Field Service Engineer As a Field Service Engineer at Azenta, you will be on the front lines of our Cryo solutions, working directly with customers to keep cryogenic freezers, automated storage systems, carriers, and thawing devices operating reliably and efficiently. You will play a hands‑on role in installing, maintaining, and improving LN₂‑based and cryo‑temperature systems, while building trusted relationships with customers and internal teams. You will develop your technical expertise, sharpen your troubleshooting skills in cold‑chain and cryogenic environments, and contribute directly to customer satisfaction and business success; all while working in a collaborative, safety‑focused environment with opportunities to grow. What you'll do... Install, modify, repair, diagnose, and perform preventive maintenance on cryogenic storage, transport, and thawing equipment, including associated software and hardware, in accordance with Azenta policies and procedures. Support customers using automated cryo storage systems, LN₂ vapor freezers, cryogenic carriers, and dry‑bath thawing solutions, ensuring optimal system performance. Interface directly with customers to meet contract SLAs and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction in regulated laboratory and clinical environments. Maintain a safe and compliant working environment, particularly when working with cryogenic temperatures, liquid nitrogen systems, and safety protocols. Obtain and maintain required Equipment Service and Operation Certifications, including Cryo‑specific systems. Accurately document service activities through Service Reports, Status Reports, and performance summaries. Respond productively to changing priorities, including system alerts, escalations, and tool‑down events. Act as a point of contact (PoC) for customers and internal Azenta management. Provide weekly system performance summaries, including system events, Pareto analysis, and root cause / corrective action reporting. Support additional KPI measurement requests throughout the contract period. Assist with sample migration activities, including the transition of samples into new Cryo storage formats and systems. We are looking for a technically skilled, customer‑focused Field Service Engineer who enjoys solving problems in real-world environments and takes pride in delivering reliable service. Required Qualifications Associate of Science (AS) degree, technical certificate, or equivalent hands-on technical training Minimum of 5 years of relevant technical experience, or equivalent military technical training Strong electrical and mechanical fundamentals Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English (reading, writing, and speaking), including effective interaction with customers and internal teams Valid driver's license, good driving record, reliable transportation, and ability to obtain a valid passport during employment Ability to successfully pass background screening requirements Preferred location in the Midwest (e.g., Missouri or surrounding states) with convenient access to a major airport. Technical & Professional Skills You'll Use Proven troubleshooting skills, using a structured and methodical approach to diagnose system issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions. Ability to work independently in the field while prioritizing issues based on urgency, customer impact, and business needs. Strong sense of ownership and commitment to resolving problems through to completion. Comfort working with computers and standard business software, including Windows-based operating systems.
