About the role
As Faculty Associate Leader - Services Industries, you'll provide associate academic leadership and operational oversight across our Beauty, Hair & Makeup programmes, while also supporting the Tourism and Hospitality portfolio within the Service Industries faculty. Working closely with the Head of Faculty - Beauty, Hair & Makeup Industries, and the Head of Faculty - Tourism & Hospitality, this role provides leadership and end-to-end ownership of assigned programmes, ensuring academic excellence, regulatory compliance, strong industry relevance, and positive ākonga outcomes. Key responsibilities include: Providing day-to-day academic leadership for assigned Service Industry programmes under the direction of the Head of Faculty Leading end-to-end programme development, review, and continuous improvement activities Ensuring programmes are delivery-ready, including learning resources, assessments, LMS setup, moderation plans, and tutor guidance Maintaining academic quality, NZQA compliance, and consistency across delivery sites and modes Supporting and mentoring teaching teams to promote high-quality, learner-centred delivery Strengthening industry alignment through applied projects, internships, and authentic assessment Promote and embed Māori and Pasifika stakeholder engagement in programme development to strengthen cultural relevance, academic excellence, and positive ākonga outcomes. About You: You're an experienced academic leader with a strong background in the Services Industries (i.e. hair, beauty, makeup, tourism etc.). You bring a practical, collaborative approach and thrive in environments where quality, compliance, and learner outcomes all matter. You're confident working across stakeholders and enjoy shaping programmes that are relevant, applied, and future focused. You'll bring: A tertiary qualification in Hairdressing or Barbering is preferred, although qualifications in Makeup, Beauty Therapy, Tourism, or a closely related discipline will also be considered. Active engagement with service and hairdressing/barbering industry networks, with experience utilising industry connections to create authentic learning experiences, projects, and pathways for ākonga. Demonstrated experience in teaching, with evidence of academic leadership and contribution to programme delivery. Strong working knowledge of NZQA requirements, including programme approval, accreditation, and quality assurance processes. Proven ability to lead programme development and curriculum design at Certificate and Diploma level. Sound knowledge of unit standard-based assessments, including assessment design, moderation, and compliance requirements. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships across the faculty, balancing operational priorities with the needs of delivery teams, regulatory compliance, and positive ākonga outcomes. Teamwork and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both internal and external stakeholders. Why work with us?
