The Costing Engineer in Material Costing Intelligence (MCI) is part of the Product Supply Enablement (PSE) function at VF Corporation. Based in Vietnam, this role is responsible for engineering product cost from a construction and manufacturing perspective, while supporting costing framework governance , costing data quality and vendor negotiations . The role partners closely with sourcing teams, product development teams, suppliers, and factory costing counterparts to strengthen pre-costing , improve cost tra nsparency and predictability and deliver cost-saving initiatives. The successful candidate brings strong analytical capability, technical understanding of apparel or footwear / equipment product construction cost drivers, and the ability to influence decisions to management level stakeholders through clear, fact-based communication. Key Result Areas Product Cost Engineering Engineer product cost estimates based on style construction, manufacturing process flow, labor content and efficiency assumptions Execute and continuously improve negotiation tools such as cost breakdown templates and product cost matrices, and standard minute value calculators to support faster and more accurate cost assessment. Support in-factory analysis on material, labor, productivity, process, and other product cost-driver changes to inform margin expectations and design options Costing Frameworks, Systems & Data Governance Support the execution and governance of product minute rate cards to build predictive costing across suppliers and teams. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to improve costing data quality, product rate card adherence , and system integration across product development and costing related workflows. Contribute to the development of granular cost competitiveness KPIs for vendors , including framework documentation, KPI tracking, and integration into the sourcing allocation process. Cross-Functional Partnership & Project Support Partner closely with sourcing, product development, and factory counterparts to align on product rate cards and cost savings opportunities. Assist in preparing communication materials and management updates that translate technical costing analysis into clear business implications and recommended actions. Support pilot projects and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen VF's costing capabilities and "One VF" ways of working Behavioral Competencies Strong collaboration skills and high EQ in working across functions, cultures, and external partners Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to simplify technical costing topics for non-technical audiences Proactive, curious, and solution-oriented mindset Comfortable working independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines Strong attention to detail balanced with sound commercial judgment Willingness to challenge assumptions and recommend practical improvements What we will be looking for in you : 1 - 3 years of experience in costing, industrial engineering, production, sourcing, procurement, operations, manufacturing, or a related field; Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing / Operations , or another quantitative / STEM-related field Strong understanding of product construction, manufacturing processes, and cost drivers in apparel, footwear, or equipment preferred Familiarity with workflow study, SMV / SAM concepts, cost breakdowns, or factory costing processes is an advantage Strong Excel capability; proficiency in PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office tools required Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights Good stakeholder management and the confidence to work with suppliers and cross-functional teams VF Diversity Vision Statement VF is committed to creating an inclusive environment that welcomes and values the differences among all of our associates, customers, suppliers and the communities in which we live and conduct business.
