We are seeking a technically skilled Equipment Engineer to join our engineering team in supporting the evaluation of emerging technologies and driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role involves hands-on operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ion implant equipment. The ideal candidate will proactively identify equipment deficiencies during the design phase, implement enhancements, and document preventative maintenance procedures. This position works closely with the process engineering team to develop and execute test plans for new systems and processes.
Responsibilities
Operate ion implant systems and collaborate with applications, marketing, sales, and customers to define demonstration conditions and conduct in-house product evaluations.
Maintain equipment, including Source, Beamline, and wafer handling systems, with a strong understanding of product hazards and safe operational practices. Responsible for setup, calibration, and adjustment of wafer handling and robotic systems.
Diagnose and resolve equipment issues across electrical and mechanical domains, coordinating with subject matter experts as needed.
Evaluate and analyze system performance. Interpret data and observations to recommend and implement improvements.
Partner with cross-functional teams to develop and execute test plans, deliver value-added solutions, and maintain detailed knowledge of tool configurations.
Continue expanding technical knowledge and understanding of the scientific principles underlying product performance.
Support customer demo requests by partnering with process engineers to prepare systems and ensure tools meet Axcelis performance specifications.
Required Skills
Ability to perform physical maintenance and repair tasks while using appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Willingness to travel up to 15%.
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
