Job Category Finance and Accounting Compensation Overview The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards. The Senior Director, Financial Planning & Analysis is a critical leadership role responsible for supporting the National Accounts Group. This position leads the financial planning and forecasting function across National Accounts and Residual Markets, owning end-to-end planning processes while directing a variety of core FP&A activities - including the creation and presentation of financial reports that deliver clear, concise insights to senior leadership. The Senior Director will serve as an influential business partner with many stakeholders, including Home Office and Field Leadership, Actuarial, National Finance Controllership, and BI Shared Finance. This role requires the ability to synthesize complex financial data into executive-ready narratives that connect business performance drivers, progress against strategic objectives, and broader market dynamics - interpreting and communicating analyses in a way that resonates with each intended audience. This role also serves as a catalyst for modernizing the FP&A function, leading initiatives to redesign reporting frameworks, restructure planning environments, and drive continuous automation of month-end workflows. The Senior Director will lead and develop a team of finance professionals, overseeing project deliverables, reporting development, and financial analysis across assigned business areas. What Will You Do? Synthesize reports generated into impactful exhibits, insightful results/observations, and actionable recommendations to influence business partners and senior management, ensuring quality control/accuracy. Review team members' reports and provide guidance on accuracy and presentation. Design, prepare, evaluate, and validate advanced financial and operational reports to support tactical and strategic business objectives. Identify gaps and limitations in data sets and understand multiple layers of complexity with the ability to explain and recommend potential alternatives. Oversee, synthesize, and present exhibits, results, observations, and recommendations to business partners and senior management, including formal presentations, ensuring content aligns with broader business objectives. Engage with business partners to translate complex analyses to influence business strategy. Review competitor press releases, SEC filings, and industry trade press for helpful insights, linking opaque themes together and identifying applicability to departmental strategies. Push insights up to management in a timely manner by creating actionable insights to influence business strategy. Design and lead projects that analyze and implement the most complex business and financial regulatory changes relating to financial reporting, such as mergers and acquisitions, etc. Provide coaching, training, and mentoring. If a manager of people, provide leadership, coaching, training, planning, staffing, and performance management and development to employees, in addition to ensuring the understanding of departmental objectives, vision, and strategy. Perform other duties as assigned. What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have? Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or pursuing a Master's in Business Administration with a concentration in finance or accounting or professional designations such as CPA, CMA or comparable advanced professional education. Extensive experience with Financial Analysis concepts, principles, processes, applications and accounting practices and principles preferably with some exposure to the P&C insurance industry. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present, influence, and negotiate at various levels of the organization and with external partners.
