Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred.
Certification as a Surgical Technologist preferred.
Previous experience in Operating Room setting preferred.
Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee timesheet and the performance appraisal system. Job specific systems are also required.
Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English.

0.90 / 36 / 1st Shift (United States of America)The department is open from Monday - Friday with limited rotating call coverage for nights, weekends and holidays while the department is closed. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Provides technical assistance to professional staff in the Surgery Complex. Performs services requiring technical or manual skills under the direction of circulating Registered Nurse. Is also responsible for cleaning, assembling, and sterilizing all equipment, supplies, and/or instruments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Follows written procedures for chemical/steam sterilization. Knows responsibilities and the necessity for chemical and biological monitoring. Cleans and decontaminates patient use items by taking apart instruments, rinsing and soaking instruments, and using washing/sterilization equipment. Assists with clean up, wrapping, re-sterilizing, and disinfecting of equipment after the surgery. Assembles, packages, and/or terminally sterilizes patient use items.
2. Assists in moving patient from assigned room to operating room. Assists team members in positioning, prepping, and draping patient for surgical procedures. Assists team members in placing and positioning patient on PACU cart. Protects patients' sensitivities and right to privacy.
3. Accurately completes operating room counts according to policy.
4. Maintains a sterile environment during the surgical process. Carries out medical/surgical asepsis during treatments/procedures. Utilizes Standard Precautions. Hand instruments and supplies to surgeon, holds retrac-tors/limbs, cuts sutures, and performs other tasks as directed by surgeon during operation. Demonstrates competence in care of specimen and accurately handles specimens at all times.
5. Prepares room in a timely manner with all anticipated instruments, sutures, supplies, and equipment for each individual surgical procedure. Adapts procedures to meet the age specific needs of patients for treatment.
6. Assists with cleanup of operating room following surgery. Assists with clean-up, wrapping, re-sterilizing, or disinfect¬ing of equipment following surgery.
7. Main¬tains account of implants and items used in the procedures and accurately communicates/verifies these with the circulator in order to complete patient charges for equipment and care. Maintains responsibility for condition of equipment and supplies related to patient care. Provides for repair/restocking/replacement of supplies as needed.
